Today I received an E.P. From the Crafty Fuzz, not through post or at a gig, but passed hand to hand until it fell to my graceful tanned palms to hold this disc. This Dublin quartet blast their Blues influenced rock with gooving gruff vocals and heavy riffs. Every distorted note stinks of whiskey and tour vans.

C.D.
As soon as the first notes of Once In a Blue Moon sounds, I was drenched in a wall of sound that was positively dripping with influences from artists such as Black Sabbath and Ozzy. The aggressively soothing vocals of frontwoman (yes, frontwoman) Babz Allen come to true fruition in second track, The game. From the outset this band comes across as well experienced , and bad ass. Very impressive 5 tracks.

I don't waste my time, never spend my life livin a lie...

FINISHING THOUGHTS
With a guitar sound firmly routed in classic rock and early metal, and held together with forceful drumming, you can't go wrong with this band. Make sure you get your arse down to the MoeFest venue and not miss these guys in a live performance!

LIVE PERFORMANCE
I was on the door for an alcohol free gig that they played as a fundraiser for Occupy Dame Street, last summer, but I was too drunk to remember how they went over.

C.D.
This duo's sound is best described as hillbillies paying grunge. In Ireland. Their E.P's card cover pushed it's way through my door a couple of days ago, and It hasn't left my CD player since. Starting of with a powerful powerchord, foot stomping headbanging 'Spitting Blood', and equally as Cobain comparable 'As A Light'. They soon show their blues influences With a riff in 'Another Early Night' that makes you want to chug all your whisky, get your jean dungarees on and start a bar fight. The blues undertones carry us the rest of the way through the E.P. with 'Avalanche', and ending with a tune that could easily be from 90's Seattle scene 'Twist's Request'.

FINISHING THOUGHTS
This Galway based pair of legends are such a rip-roaring grunge/southern rock lovechild, it would be a real shame to music everywhere if they turned out to be a just another college students bound for life in an office and dust covered corners of hipsters rare E.P. collections. Somebody please do the world a favor and make these motherfuckers famous.

Sometimes alcohol can cause your judgement to be sloppy, but in the case of We Were Giants, my decision that they fuckin rock was correct. I caught them at a Local Heroes gig in The Prince last Friday and I was impressed.

LIVE PERFORMANCE
Despite a mellow sound to a lot of the material, they still rock a live venue. This Dublin four-piece filled the air with a stage presence that certainly was unexpected.

C.D. (E.P. Title: Part one)
At a soberer stage of the weekend, I opened the flimsy case of their first E.P. The hauntingly beautiful first intro is a lead up to the sound wall that follows. Recorded work, especially on a low budget, often shows flaws that go unnoticed live, and this was evidenced in the vocals on a couple of the high notes. But over all an impressive four tracks.

FINISHING THOUGHTS
Lyrics are absolute poetry, if a little clichè in places, the vocals over all are powerful and connecting. With a great mellow modern rock style, these four sound lads will go far in the coming years.
